The internet has become a part of our daily life. The internet is used for work, for social networking and to communicate with friends and family members. Banking and shopping can be completed on the internet. As the internet is used for so many purposes it can be easy to find yourself constantly logging on whether at home, at work and even from your mobile device. When this becomes a problem, you could indeed be addicted to the internet.
There has been an increase in the amount of people that have been diagnosed with internet addiction disorder. Here are some signs that you could be addicted to the internet:
- You cannot go more than a couple of hours before logging on to the computer to check your email or to simply log on to your favorite website
- You feel disconnected from the world or become agitated if you are unable to log on to the internet
- The relationships in your life suffer because of the internet addiction that you are facing and your family members and friends are beginning to question your internet use as addictive
- You are losing valuable hours sleep as you are spending time on the internet and not spending time sleeping and resting for the next day
- You spend money online compulsively and are in debt because of the activities that take place on the internet such as shopping and gambling
Using these signs you can determine if you are addicted to the internet. In the case that you are addicted to the internet, there are many therapies that are available to quell the internet addiction.
