The company phone

One of the perks of having a job at a company is being able to get free stuff from them. In the attempt to make sure their employees can be reached at all times, and to make sure that said employees have a way to make work-related calls when not at the office, companies usually give them a mobile phone and offer them a plan. This is, of course, standard procedure in the big companies, which may even have specific sponsorship contracts with cell phone providers.

But small and medium sized companies are managing to get a slice of the cheap phone market too, and thus managing to equip their employees with cell phones at a reduced price. Some cell phone companies even offer some free gifts with mobile contracts as a way to get more small companies to join their ranks. Because, truth be told, although it’s great to have the business of a really large company, having multiple small ones is just as good, and probably better in terms of commission for the area representative. So if you do have a small business, don’t let the cell phone companies trick you into a less than good package: remember you’ve got the power.
